STS-Med: inaugurati quattro impianti solari a concentrazione in Italia e Medioriente image

Nell’ambito del progetto STS-Med che vede coinvolte 14 tra istituzioni, aziende locali, università ed enti di ricerca, tra cui l’ENEA ed il Consorzio Arca, capofila di progetto – sono stati inaugurati quattro impianti solari a concentrazione multi-generativi di piccola taglia in Italia, Egitto, Cipro e Giordania. L’impianto italiano è stato realizzato presso il Consorzio Arca, all’interno del campus dell’Università degli Studi di Palermo. Finanziato con 5 milioni di euro dal Programma europeo di cooperazione internazionale ENPI CBC MED, l’obiettivo principale di STS-Med è diffondere tecnologie innovative e sensibilizzare le comunità locali sulle potenzialità del solare a concentrazione per soddisfare il fabbisogno energetico. Third technical visit and plant’s opening ceremony in Jordan image

On Saturday, April 16, the final phase of system installation in the demonstrative plant built in Jordan in the framework of STS-Med project has been presented to the project partners, who gathered in Irbid on a technical visit, and to local stakeholders from the research and business community. Millenium Energy Industries, business partner of the project, described the technical components and subsystems of the plant and the following phase of tuning, control and monitoring in operation.  In the afternoon, during a round table, technicians and representatives from the industrial system discussed about the economic feasibility of the adoption of CS multigenerative systems. In Cyprus, a workshop about concentrated solar energy system standard

The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is organising a 3-day workshop that will include the official inauguration of the solar cooling unit of the Novel Technologies Laboratory (NTL) building, and will take place at the CyI premises in Nicosia between Monday the 11th and Wednesday the 13th of April 2016. The inauguration will be addressed by the Minister of Finance, Mr Charis Georgiadis. The event will also include a one-day workshop on Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technologies and a detailed view of the system itself from its designers, plus a one-day training event offered by the installation team targeting technicians and engineers. New solar bid for Cyprus image

The Cyprus Institute is getting ready to activate a pioneering technology to provide cooling and heating to the Institute’s Novel Technologies Laboratory (NTL). Scientists at the Institute have been working since 2013 on the creation and installation of a new technology that will be able to provide cooling thanks to concentrated solar power. The technology consists of a linear Fresnel collector of 70 kW thermal peak capacity, which is housed on the large, 352-square-metre roof of the KEPA School in Nicosia, separated by a road from the NTL.
